With closed eyes and an open heart Dimitri Howald has - in a few short years - established himself as one of Switzerland’s most prolific young musicians. His multi-faceted career to date has seen him explore the outer realms of jazz. The studio album "Spiritual Cycle" with his quintet Ilja was released in November 2020 and is again, after "Tundra" co-produced by the swiss radio SRF2. Followed by that, his new solo record "Amnis Alsace" came out in September 2021 together with a Movie and a Cinema-Release-Tour. This record brings together his unique blend of influences. Jazz, of course, but also everything from 80s New Wave and drum machines to Brazilian Music and Icelandic Music.
Dimitri is active in the national and international jazz-scene and has performed and worked with many different musicians – with Ohad Talmor new swiss quartet OTCHCO, with This is Pan, Swiss Jazz Orchestra, at Moods Zurich with his Trio, at the Vortex Jazz Club with his quintet Ilja, with Howald & the Amnis Band at beeflat Bern, Cully Jazzfestival, Jazzwerkstatt Bern 2023, at Sarajevo Jazz Fest with Django Bates’ Humanchain or at Jazzdor Strasbourg and D’Jazz Nevers and Maison de la Radio in Paris with the Euroradio Jazz Orchestra 2017, led by Airelle Besson.

He received his master degree in Music Performance in summer 2017 at the Hochschule der Künste, Bern.
